HAXBY rD pRIMARY aCADEMY

'Everybody's Free'

The theme is about acceptance and belonging. At Haxby Road we are so lucky to have a wide range of children and families from all backgrounds. Haxby Road is a place where everyone can feel free to be whoever they want to be! Within our dance we have included lots of different styles and you will see everybody shine!

Dance choreographed by Mrs Eddon and the Haxby Road Dance Team.

'Encanto'

Set in the mountains of Columbia, the animated film 'Encanto' is the inspiration for this dance. We explore the miracle of the natural world and the animals you might encounter in South America before bursting into a high energy dance inspired by the characters in the film.

Choreographed by Hannah and the dancers

'MOVE!'

As a relatively new group of young people dancing together, the girls are excited to perform at the theatre, and showcase some of the Street Dance skills they have been learning. The piece combines elements of breaking & locking into the choreography, mixed with a little bit of attitude & lots of energy!

'A Spark of Hope'

Our piece came together through collaborative thinking in our weekly lunchtime dance club. One person had an idea of a spark of hope, another had an idea of surviving something and eventually we ended up with our story to tell. Our dance is set in a world where children are forced to work and nature has died out. However, there is always hope and a spark of hope inspires others to do the same, causing a revolution

'Dreams'

We used the theme of Dreams to create this piece, exploring how quickly dreams can change; sometimes happy, sometimes scary, sometimes confusing, sometimes silly! And the children created choreography to represent how hard it can be to fall asleep at times...

'Never Gonna Not Dance Again'

We wanted to bring an upbeat, positive, fast moving, fun dance to the festival to spread the joy. Dance is such a wonderful gift that we can all be a part of. Just remember to dance with your heart and your feet will follow.

Choreographed by Emma Havercroft and the children
